Bosun              Well done First Mate, we were looking for an experienced crew. You lot can swab these dirty decks and do the laundry … polish the ship’s bell and stuff.

Janey              And you can take a long walk off a very short plank. This is the twenty first century … isn’t it? (Looks around at non 21st century scene) Girl power you know! We’ll do the sailing, you do the washing. (Exit all male cast members)

SONG 2 : GIRL POWER

The song provides an opportunity for the girls to perform a dance routine.

Percy               (From offstage) Land ahoy cap’n! (Runs on stage pointing) Land ahoy cap’n!

Bosun              (Looking through telescope) Well I thought girl power was just a lot of hot air, but it’s found us an island cap’n.

Capt                Brilliant. You know what this means bosun?

Bosun              Trees!

Girls                Trees?

Mate                Cap’n must have a Christmas tree for his birthday. It will help cheer him up.

Janey              (Very dramatically) What would cheer me up right now would be a force five-gale blowing sea spray through my hair, the whistle of the wind in the rigging, the howl of the wind at the sails and the tortuous bucking of the trusty ship beneath my feet!

Crew men         Oooooh….. get you!

Pete                Well it’ll cheer me up to feel some warm, firm sand under my feet. I’m fed up with being sea sick.

Jeany              (Scoffing) Whoever heard of a pirate being sea sick?

Percy               ‘Praps this will be my dream island. A veggie plot and flower garden would cheer me up.

Suzy               (Sarcastically) Whoever heard of a gardening pirate?

Paul                (Unfolding a map, looking very puzzled) Cap’n, this island … it isn’t on the map.

Sally               (Crosses to him) The map’s upside down, dope.

Suzy               (Scoffing) Whoever heard of a pirate not being able to read a map? Come on girls let’s heave to.

Mate               [Aside to audience] Might be quicker if they heaved three or four! [Exits]
