Scene 1 : The Street

A crowd gathers at Dry Ice Lane on a freezing cold afternoon waiting to hear the Ice King's annual speech.

Scene 2 : The Guard Room

The Guards are getting ready for the King's procession.

Scene 3 : The Procession

Back on Dry Ice Lane someone tries to warm the Ice King, but the batteries in his illegal hair drier are flat. For his valour Private Drip is decorated with tinsel.

Scene 4 : The Guards' Mess Room

Waitresses are setting tables for the guards' meal.

Scene 5 : The Baby

This scene requires the stage to be arranged in two places. At one side the first action takes place in the street outside the house where the Prince of Fire is born. The other side of the stage needs to show the inside of the sitting room.

Scene 6 : The Fridge

The action takes place many years later in Kingdom Cold's Fridge room where dissidents are imprisoned. Hotshot breaks the power of the Fridgerator.

Scene 7 : The Bonfire

Kingdom Cold is overthrown.

This may be the most difficult scene to stage as there needs to be some sort of bonfire simulation at centre stage. Perhaps a red cellophane pyramid lit from underneath by a red light bulb. Or a pyramid made of fronds of red, yellow and orange tissue paper. A fan heater could be placed under the pyramid so that the fronds blow upwards.

Hotshot

The cruel Ice King is finally conquered by the Prince of Fire in spite of the efforts of Sergeant Snowdrop, his Icicles, the SAS (Send Awful Shivers) and the Fridgerator. Kingdom Cold celebrates as the big freeze turns into the big thaw.

Fridger.           ( Humming to himself as he dusts the Fridge ) Dum de dum de dum. Oh a Fridgerator’s work is never done. Clean this valve, dust that inlet spiggot, check that coolant level. ( He looks closely at some dials and twists some knobs. Looks puzzled ) Oh dear! I must contact the engineer it looks as though the cryocoupling electrode sprocket needs replacing. I wish I could get it fixed once and for all. It’s always going wrong.

Assistant 1      Hey boss, it’s time for our iced tea break and I think they’ve got a new delivery of iced buns today.

Assistant 2      Oh great! Lets go. Union rules you know boss. See you in ten.

                     ( They exit. Hotshot enters. The controller is unaware of him as he mumbles )

Fridger.            Union rules! What’s the world coming to?

Hotshot          (Enters) The world, my friend is coming to it’s senses.

                     ( Aside to the audience ) Kingdom Cold is about to take its last freezing breath.  ( Hotshot approaches the Fridge with hands outstretched )

Fridger.           ( Moves towards Hotshot )

                      Here, what are you doing in here? This is a dust free zone. Did you wipe your feet?

Hotshot           I’m here to change things my friend. Change things once and for all …

Fridger.            Oh, good I’ve just been saying that cryocoupling electrode sprocket needs fixing once and for all. You’ve come just at the right time. ( Scratching his head ) That must be telepathy

Hotshot           ….so your Fridge won’t work any more.

Fridger.            ( Irritated ) I know that. I don’t need you to tell me. ( In a superior voice )

                      It needs a new thermostat spindle on the neon cryocoupling electrode sprocket that interacts with the gasketted hex nuts on the main hotness suppresser. Anyway, how did you get in here. Where is your identity badge? This is a restricted area.

Hotshot           And even someone with a restricted brain like yours can understand that it’s all over. IT’S ALL OVER Fridgerator!.

Fridger.           ( He looks at the machine )  What’s all over … I spent hours cleaning it.

Hotshot           Not the Fridge, snowflake brain, THE SYSTEM.

Fridger.            But we had the system checked out last week by the county inspectors.

Hotshot           ( Aside to the audience )  Well no wonder it doesn’t work then!
